This is my recording of a fire truck by with horn honks and siren wails when coming in and going out.

Recorded at the office when it was raining. I didnt have any specific tool to record the room so i just brought my cell phone and i started recording. There is some noises when dragging the phone, but it you edit on audacity it wont be much of a problem.

It's an all synthetized sound, created on audacity. I wanted to recreat a basic emergency alarm, which can be use for cops, firemen or ambulance. I started by creat a track, then i add chirps. After, i duplicated the track and make a stereo of both. After, i copy and stick multiples times my sound. After, i chossed to raise the speed of the track, twice. I also modified a little bit the height. An alarm i made in sylenth by distorting a sine wave mixed with a triangle wave. I then notched stuff out in eq, distorted it further and added reverb.

This is a recording of michigan avenue in chicago from an interior perspective made from the 24th floor facing west. The microphones were spaced apart and placed very close to the window. It's not a re-enactment of the blitz; it's a test of the escape alarm at the local mental hospital, broadmoor.

This version is heavily edited, with some filtering and compression applied, as most of the recording was distorted (i was too close to the siren!), although it should be useable with appropriate filtering to suit your purpose. A stereo wav recording from a zoom h1n during a thunderstorm today. One siren picks up followed by several more producing a convincing stereo image. I have done a basic bass roll-off, but have left it otherwise untouched. If you have a spectral editor you can probably clean out more of the noise, but i couldn't do so and keep the sirens sounding good.

A parisian fire truck passes about 150 feet away and briefly turns on its siren to make sure nobody overlooks it. Emergency vehicles in france have either two-tone or three-tone sirens. Vehicles to which one must yield the right of way, such as fire trucks, use the two-tone siren. The three-tone siren (not on this recording) is used for vehicles that do not require drivers to yield but should still be given some priority. Recorded with a zoom h4n hand-held, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics, about 150 feet away from the passing truck.

I got a weird story for this one! i took a machine sound from my grandpa's workshop, overloaded it with flanger so it didn't even sound like a machine anymore, got a little snippet of the sound, pitch shifted it up, and repeated it, eqed it, and added some reverb. (the machine didn't have anything do do with it btw. You can do this with any sound. ) hope you guys enjoy this sound. Feel free to use this anywhere you want. :).
